5 years + trip to London planned :D
July 9th, 2007 Posted in lifeToday is the 5th anniversary of Habbie and me being together
Although we’ve had our share of temperament and pace clashes i’m certainly still very happy with him and hope we make it to several more anniversary occasions

Combining the celebration of this anniversary and our 2nd holiday together (mm, maybe we should make a ‘lets do this kind of thing more often’-resolution
) we’ll be spending a long weekend in London a bit more than a week from now. Naturally the main goal is to ‘get away’ for a bit but we certainly want to see as much of the city as possible. Since H has only been there on a quick stop while traveling elsewhere and my last (one day) visit was over 10 years ago we are in dire need of must-see-suggestions. If you have any of those available pretty plx post a comment ![]()

Oxford street, for the required shopping, and if you’re into the geeky/nerdy type of time-spending, segaworld, namcoworld, trocadero.
Chinatown for some good food.
All your default tourist traps…
http://www.orcsnest.com/ … just visit the shop and be surprised
And try to find the portugese chicken/burger place near King’s Cross… very very good

Time after time when I arrive at Covent Garden in the afternoon I keep hanging around there more time than I anticipated. I like that place so much.

Agree with Veenbeest: Convent Garden is a must see.
Foo is missing one of the better Geek places: Forbidden Planet (same tube exit as the theatre that is hosting Monty Pythons Holy Grail musical atm - also a good tip).
Another tip (for the really nerdy): Angel Station to take a ride on the longest escalator in the world (really is quite long).

Mm all sounds like fun
We also have a travel guide which provides suggestions for day planning so i think we’ll manage to have a good time
One more specific question though: we arrive at Heathrow airport pretty early on friday morning, and i think we can’t check in at the hotel until somewhere in the afternoon. Since the hotel is pretty much at the other end of the city it seems like a good plan to find some activity for the first few hours that allows us to be still dragging our stuff (~10kg each) along. Any suggestions?

A bit late I suppose for the luggage tip, but you can always leave your luggage at a depot on either Victoria Station or Liverpool Street Station (check which one is better suited for you).
