My first Real Running Accomplishment(tm), besides keeping it up: I ran the last few kilometers to complete 50km today

After 4-5 years of using my old one it was time to get a new phone
Obviously I did a lot of comparing and doubting, but I finally decided to go for a Nokia 6120 classic. The only downside I’ve found so far is that the model is still so new, which means most sites with phone software haven’t heard of it yet. That’ll probably change within one or two months though so all should be ok in a bit
Speaking of software, do you have any tips on apps-I-can’t-be-without?
So far I only have Fring, a mobile putty version and one downloaded theme. Fring works fine for Skype and for SIP, but I’m not over the moon about the messenger services like ICQ and MSN. This is mostly because you can’t view the profile of the person you’re talking to: with those catchy MSN names people use it’s rather hard to keep track of who’s who.
I mostly lack a good IRC client, and something for SSH that allows me to save configured sessions (typing on numberpads is too much of a hassle to do it every single time I want to connect). Do tell me if you know which one would work for me, and about any other cool apps as well
Btw the phone’s software is Symbian S60 3rd edition
A while ago I posted (in dutch) about my recent efforts to get off my ass. In that particular attempt I actually made it until the 12th podcast running session, having done one or two of the weeks twice. Pretty cool for a first attempt huh?
But yes, it was a first attempt so I slacked for a few weeks, did another half-hearted attempt that lasted only a week and then stopped again.
However I’m getting the impression that I’m on the right track this time around. I’m not entirely sure what is different now except for some gear, which is obviously important but there seems to be more to it. Maybe I’m getting the hang of it? I’m still nowhere near really ‘liking’ the exercise, but I do like how it shows me I can do something I recently thought I would never be able to. So yay for me
Besides running I also find myself looking for other forms of exercise: on Thursday the week before last I went to check out an aerobics and a pilates lesson, and a plan to go there again this week. Last Friday I had fun at the company tennis match that I wouldn’t have considered signing up for before (well technically I didn’t, but I let a colleague talk me into it). Tomorrow I’m going to buy some rackets and balls so Habbie and me can go out for a few rallys on the public court in the park next door. Interestingness!

Yesterday we went to Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen. The occasion was Skatey’s birthday and we had lots of fun. I may have been a bit annoying for exclaiming I wanted to take pretty much every fluffy animal home
My favourites were the meerkats and the otters ![]()
I made quite some pictures (over 80 I think) even though I didn’t expect them to turn out well: it’s tricky to take them at the right moment and often the animals are so far away that you need to get into the digital zoom range to see them at all. Also my camera has limited manual settings so all I did was turn off the flash and hope for the best. The top 25 photo’s are in my gallery:
